Point of view

1st person
Miranda

I retrieved it, and brushed the ashes off the cover, and rolled it in the opposite direction to get it to lie flat. I got into bed, still rumpled from their lovemaking, and studied the borders of Bengal. The map was connected to an article about something called the Gramin Bank. I turned the page, hoping for a photograph of the city where Dev was born, but all she found were graphs and grids. still, i stared at them, thinking the whole time about Devm about how only fifteen minutes ago he'd propped my feet on top of his shoulders, and pressed my knees to my chest, and told me that he couldn't get enough of me.
I had met him only a week ago, at Filene's. I was there on my lunch break, buying a discounted pantyhose in the basment, I took the escalator to the main part of the store, to the cosmetics department, where soaps and creams were being displayed like jewels. Though I had never bought anything besides lipstick. I liked negotiating with women planted at every turn, who sprayed cards with perfume and waved them in the air.

Reflection

Reflection for Theme #7

I stayed on topic with my paper. I tried to keep the focus on football and the commitment you need to stay with it and with the football team. The paper main focus was on football and the obstacles you might go through and how you need to stay strong. I changed a few things and took out a few things so that the paper would stay more on topic and not lose focus.
From my rough draft I didn’t have very much but I added a lot more and the sentences were fixed and more paragraphs. The begging is clear and the middle is clear, the end was rough to close in my point of view but I closed it the best I could. Altogether the theme is directed on commitment and football.
Student choice I would just go with sentence structure because I think my sentences are cleaner and more vivid and more detailed. They all have a reason to them and explain the reason for commitment. The structure of each sentence is not perfect most likely but I tried to make each sentence the best I could make it.
Spelling and Punctuation was a little rough for the rough draft but I tried to listen to the comments I had and added some more commas and made some of my run on sentences a little bit shorter or made them into two sentences. I made my paper longer as well so more punctuation was needed for that and I tried to keep most of it under a rhythm.

Final draft

Commitment

Commitment is something that is hard to keep. A sport that needs a lot of commitment is football it is a year round sport. During the off season you may think it’s just a break from the season but its not you still put full effort and full time into it. Lifting is a major factor for football it’s were you prepare for the season to come to get bigger, stronger and, faster. It doesn’t come easy to do those three things because it takes hard work and a lot of time to put in it. The only way that you will achieve these three main goals, is to be committed to them and to work towards making them happen and not letting your mind tell you can’t do something.
There will be plenty of times were you don’t want to lift, but you go because you made that commitment to not only yourself but to a team that makes the same commitment to you. The team is what pushes you through the times where you want to stop and quit, they are there for you. The team is there for you on the field, they all trust you because you were there in the off season everyday committed and didn’t let them down. When you think about it you are committed to more then just the off season you are committed to fifty other players. If they didn’t see you one day, then they will find out why you were not there. Then make sure you show up the next day.
People say that basketball, baseball are emotional sports and that they take a lot more then any other sport. When a basketball or baseball team loses they just walk off the court or field with there heads held low and a little depressed. Football brings more out of a person. All the commitment and hard work that someone puts into that season leaves a big effect on them if they lose a game. Losing a game in football is nothing compared to any other sport. Football you cry in a loss but you might cry in a win, you are upset because you put everything you had and spent all your time working at winning. Committed to the sport means that you want to win because of how much work they spent.
Being committed to something means a lot because it’s hard to keep the commitment. Football is a tough sport to be committed to and takes a lot of your time, hard work needs to be put into it. There is no time where you don’t feel like doing it today, you need to push yourself beyond the point were you are tired and don’t want to go anymore. Things can get tough and more difficult but in the long run there is a pay off you win and be successful.
